A COMPLETED PROJECT · FROM BULK TO PALLET

A new cosmetic launch. Ready one day early.

Four kits, four day cream SKUs, four night cream SKUs and four eye cream SKUs. With bulk produced by the partner laboratory, DKLab handled filling, packaging and dispatch preparation, completing the order one day before the requested dispatch date.

MULTIPLE FORMATS, ONE LAUNCH DATE

A range to coordinate in every detail.

The project brought together kit packs and creams in different containers, with specific operations for each format. The goal was to complete all quantities required for launch by the agreed dispatch date.

THE CLIENT

Packaging and main active ingredients

Supply of all primary and secondary packaging materials and the main active ingredients used in the project.

DKLAB

From bulk to the completed order

Filling, closing, assembly, packaging, batch coding and pallet preparation. Bulk production was entrusted to the partner laboratory.

THE OPERATIONAL CHALLENGE

Materials arriving at different times. A deadline to meet.

The required materials did not all arrive together. Managing incoming deliveries and component checks therefore had to support the coordination of the different operations, with the launch date in view.

The value of coordination

  • Checks on incoming materials
  • Handling kits, glass vials and two tube types
  • Matching components and SKUs
  • Final preparation by individual SKU

The result depended on completing the whole order: product, packaging and dispatch preparation.

INSIDE THE PROCESS

Five stages, through to the finished pallet.

A project combining bulk production at the partner laboratory with filling, packaging and product identification by DKLab.

01

Material receipt and checks

The client supplied primary and secondary packaging and the main active ingredients. Materials arriving at different times required coordination and checks before processing.

02

Partner laboratory bulk and DKLab filling

The partner laboratory produced the bulk using the main active ingredients supplied by the client. DKLab handled filling in the specified formats and closing, including crimping the glass vials.

03

Manual assembly and packaging

For the kits, manual work included gluing, assembly and insertion of the glass vials, dispensing accessories, leaflet and outer sleeve. For the aluminium day and night cream tubes and plastic eye cream tubes, it included insertion of the tube holder insert and leaflet, followed by cartoning. These packaging operations could not be automated for this project and were carried out manually.

04

Batch coding and shrink wrapping

The project included batch coding of primary and secondary packaging after packing. Shrink wrapping was applied to each individual kit and to groups of three tubes.

05

Cartons, pallets and dispatch preparation

Each shipping carton was labelled with item code, description, batch and quantity. Single-SKU pallets were assembled, stretch-wrapped and placed in the temporary storage area before dispatch.

THE PROJECT RESULT

Full quantities. One day early.

The quantities required for the launch were completed. The order was prepared one day ahead of the dispatch date requested by the client.

  • Cartons identified by item code, description, batch and quantity
  • Single-SKU pallets assembled and stretch-wrapped
  • Placement in temporary storage before dispatch

The early completion refers to order readiness against the requested dispatch date.
